Lowell High School’s future location may be decided next Tuesday night when the City Council is scheduled to vote on 1 of 4 new school building options which have divided public opinion between the Cawley Stadium location and the current location Downtown.  Meanwhile numerous examples of the current building’s deteriorating condition can be seen throughout the structure and last week resulted in a unanimous recommendation by the City’s Board of Health to close the school until repairs had been completed.  The City Manager called the board, ‘myopic’ and ‘irresponsible’ in comments to the media but the board members did not change their recommendation.  Moreover the board members did not definitively say the school was a safe environment in follow up interviews with the Lowell Sun. In this story Andrew Boisvert recounts the burst pipes in LHS from last winter.
