LHS B House Dean on leave with pay

Superintendent offers few details regarding action

Deidre Haley

Since Monday, an LHS House Dean, Deidre Haley, has been placed on an administrative paid leave by the Lowell Public Schools, according to a correspondence by the Lowell Public Schools superintendent released today.

Teachers, staff and students have been wondering in recent days why Haley, a popular House Dean, has been absent from the halls of B House. A House Dean is a principal for a segment of the Lowell High School population.

Today, Superintendent Salah Khelfaoui sent the correspondence to the School Committee informing them of an ongoing investigation.

According to the Lowell Sun,  Haley has been accused of “improper behavior.”  No further details have been clarified on the situation and how long the leave will be.

Ms. Kathy Akashian, former E House Dean and sister of the Lowell City Manager Kevin Murphy, will be filling in for Haley as a temporary House Dean for B house until the investigation is completed.
