Natasha Watts and Erin Shetler

Emily Steinberg, a biology teacher, has spent 22 years teaching at Lowell High School, which was her first job. Although she taught chemistry, she has always wanted to be a biology teacher. She has wanted to teach since she was 21 because she yearned to share her love of biology with others. She also teaches the Dual Enrollment Program and runs the Sunshine Club for the Lowell High Staff. She is the advisor of the STEM Club and Science League and is on the School Site Council. Ms. Steinberg has earned a BA in Biology and Theater as well as a Masters in Education. Her biggest accomplishment in life is her teaching career.
Ms. Steinberg grew up in the quaint, quiet, and close-knit town of Winchester, Massachusetts. There, she grew up as the oldest of five. She has one younger sister and three younger brothers. Ms. Steinberg has two sons, Teddy, who is 14 and attends LHS as a freshman, and Timothy, who is 12 and attends the Wang Middle School as a sixth-grader. She has a long-haired cat named Maverick and a hound and Australian Cattle Dog mix named General.
Her favorite pastime and hobby are reading, although she also enjoys trivia. Her favorite TV show and book is Outlander. Ms. Steinberg loves Lowell because of the multitude of offerings that it has. More specially, her favorite thing about the LHS community is her students’ and colleagues’ support. She has loved every place that she has traveled to, including the nine countries that she has visited, but her top five are Tanzania, Hawaii, Oregon, Hungary, and New Mexico. If she could live anywhere, she would live in Oregon because of how stunning it is. Ms. Steinberg’s best childhood memory is spending a week at the beach with just her grandmother and herself.
