Lowell, MA-At the end of June a group of Lowell High School students plan to travel to some of the world’s most famous landmarks on a tour of Europe.

From June 19th to July 1st the trip, organized by Science teacher Mrs. Maggie Kennedy, starts in Paris, France.

The tour also makes stops in famous cities such as Rome and Pisa, Italy. Along the way students will be able to see landmarks including the leaning Tower of Pisa, the Roman coliseum in Italy, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe in France, according to Mrs. Kennedy.

Mrs. Kennedy expressed her excitement stating that not only will it be a great time, but that students will be able to learn by “being immersed in a completely different culture.”

Mrs. Kennedy lived in Paris for a number of years and looks forward to “bringing the kids there to show them around her old stomping grounds.”

She and LHS administrators are taking some precautions to ensure the safety of the students in light of recent terrorism events in Paris.

Mrs. Kennedy said,”..the school is continually checking the U.S. Embassy’s security warnings,” though up to this point nothing about the trip has had to be changed.

Although there are concerns and fears among the students and parents, there is still a general excitement about the trip, she added.  Plans would only change now if something more specific regarding the safety of the students occurs, she said.

The cost of the tour ranges from $3100 to $3700 depending on when a student signed up for this European adventure. Students interested in joining the tour can see Mrs. Kennedy in Room 525.
