In my experience Lowell is full of different ethnic groups, what I’ve come to learn is that all these different groups don’t really step out of their comfort zone. For example in Lowell they have specific parts of town like where you come from Asians are from Cambodia town, south Lowell has Hispanics and Brazilian people, and in Belvidere live the rich white people. In the mix you have the neutral, those people who were born all around and are open to everyone with little to no bias. I feel the exchange students and out-of-state kids have a harder time here. In my experience I have come to make good friends and have met good people but i sometimes feel like an outsider with none of my Mexican people around as I’ve grown up. Mentally I realize the importance of knowing where you come from but its hard to remember your culture when you’re surrounded by nothing but other people’s culture.
